Hamilton, Ontario, 24-February-2010 – Energy Advantage Inc., a leading total energy and sustainability management firm, donated its resources and expertise to help Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House uncover potential energy savings measures in its facility.

Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House has aggressive plans to increase the number of rooms in its facilities and looked to Energy Advantage to help evaluate its existing building’s heating, ventilation and air condition systems to discover energy savings measures to help manage its rising energy costs.

Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House, owned and operated by Kids’ Care Oncology Central West Ontario, a charitable organization, operates a fifteen room facility that represents a home away from home for families of seriously ill children.

“Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House’s dedication and compassion to helping thousands of families is an inspiration to everyone at Energy Advantage,” says Neeraj Kumar, Vice President, Energy Efficiency, Energy Advantage. “We were excited to contribute to the House in any way possible.”

The evaluation included two site visits to examine equipment and operating conditions, interviews from Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House staff and its mechanical service contractor, and assessments of its energy invoices, maintenance manuals and a reserve fund study that was provided by Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House.

Multiple energy savings measures were uncovered, including, re-commissiong of boiler, chillers and cooling controls, replacement of incandescent lamps to CFL lamps, and installation of occupancy sensors.

Energy Advantage presented a final report to Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House. Hamilton’s Ronald McDonald House will evaluate recommended measures and incorporate chosen measures into its expansion plans.
