Five-year contract signed to manage natural gas procurement for Ontario municipalities Burlington, ON – May 24th, 2007– Energy Advantage, Canada's leading provider of total energy and environmental services is pleased to announce that it has been selected by the Association of Municipalities of Ontario's (AMO) Local Authority Service (LAS) to provide natural gas management services to all its municipal members across Ontario over a 5 year contract. The ever-growing volatility of energy prices, along with the shifting legislation landscape is making effective commodity budgeting and management difficult. Because of this it is difficult for Municipalities across the province to understand and manage energy expenditures. "From Moonbeam to Oakville, the municipalities of Ontario will now manage risks and costs related to natural gas for all of their facilities. We are proud to help provide the strategic know-how and operational capability to control those costs for taxpayers across Ontario", says Rob Kirkby, President and CEO of Energy Advantage Inc. "Using an established provider such as Energy Advantage provides us with predictability so we can manage the unexpected market volatility without having to hire in-house expertise. Energy Advantage managing our natural gas allows us to concentrate on providing public services to our constituents and additionally provides predictability to budgeting so we understand how much money is available for those services", says Nancy Plumridge, LAS, President & Secretary-Treasurer, Association of Municipalities of Ontario. Aggregating gas consumption and using long-term purchasing strategies will help provide stable and competitive commodity pricing for public municipal buildings from hockey rinks, town halls, libraries and other administrative buildings.
