December 20, 2005 Energy Advantage's Clients Will Benefit Peter Rowles, VP, Energy Efficiency and Environment, Energy Advantage Inc., announced today that Shannon Turnbull, a recent addition to our environmental management team has successfully completed intensive training and examinations which provide her with accreditation in 'Project Quantification, Validation and Verification' for federal government greenhouse gas (GHG) emissions reduction programs. "The training program is linked to the Canadian government's Climate Change Action Plan (CCAP) through which it intends to meet its international commitments to reduce GHG emissions under the Kyoto Protocol. The CCAP incorporates the establishment of an interdepartmental program - Technology Early Action Measures (TEAM) - to promote investment in emissions-reducing technology by corporations and organizations. Proponents seeking TEAM funding will require quantification, validation and verification of their project's emissions reductions by accredited independent third parties - hence the training program", explained Rowles. "And, with this accreditation, Shannon positions Energy Advantage to obtain pre-qualified consultant status under the TEAM program. As well as gaining specific insight into TEAM program requirements, the training adds to Shannon's already extensive knowledge of the processes and requirements for successful submission of Project Documentation to Canada's Offset Registry, where verified emissions reduction credits will be registered. As a company, we are eminently qualified to help our clients succeed in the rapidly evolving regulatory environment brought on by climate change", he concluded. Shannon holds a B.Sc. in Environmental Sciences, majoring in environmental monitoring and analysis from the University of Guelph. She has extensive experience with Life Cycle Assessment, including analysis of energy inputs and emission outputs, and has verified Greenhouse Gas reductions for projects funded by the Technology Early Action Measures (TEAM) program. Shannon will benefit our clients with her knowledge of many programs and tools related to facility environmental management - including LEED, ATHENA and Building for Environmental and Economic Sustainability (BEES). |
