Burlington, Ontario, 9-November-2009 - Energy Advantage is excited to announce that it has qualified as an energy modeler under BC Hydro’s Power Smart New Construction Program. Energy Advantage has over 10 years of experience in total energy management solutions and has secured over $3.4 million in incentive funding for its customers.

BC Hydro’s Power Smart New Construction Program is designed for new commercial, institutional, and multi-unit residential developments and major building retrofits, and is designed to help reduce the cost of energy efficient building design and operation. The program offers the following four funding options for energy efficient building designs:

Whole Building Design - Buildings that can save 100,000 kWh of electricity a year can qualify for funding in the amount of 100% of the cost of the energy modeling study.
System Design - Building systems that can save 50,000 kWh of electricity per year can qualify for funding in the amount of 100% of the cost of the energy modeling study.
Energy Efficient Lighting Design - Lighting designs that exceed building codes by energy savings of 10% or more can qualify for a $1,000 incentive.
ENERGY STAR Rebate - New multi-unit residential buildings qualify for a rebate on ENERGY STAR packages of up to $200 per suite.

In offering incentives for the implementation of energy conservation measures in new or existing buildings, BC Hydro’s program helps organizations to meet the considerable challenges associated with volatile energy prices, increased government regulation, and growing pressure to reduce carbon emissions.
